Ignite your passion as you reimagine and grow your leadership!

This dynamic leadership development program offers interactive, hands-on learning sessions designed to enhance the capabilities of healthcare’s formal leaders.

Facilitated by top experts from across Canada, the program aligns with the core concepts of each of the five domains in the LEADS in a Caring Environment capabilitiy framework.   The framework is a “by health, for health” description of the leadership attributes necessary to lead in modern health systems successfully. The program supports leaders in reimagining their leadership as they navigate the complexity of healthcare, leading others, achieving organizational goals, and meeting system challenges.  It fosters a network of interconnectedness, creating the space for leaders to pause, reflect, apply learning, and coach each other to lead with creativity and courage.

Canadian College of Health Leaders

This program fulfills several of the requirements for obtaining the Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation, the only leadership designation in Canada for all health leaders. St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph is proud to partner with the Canadian College of Health Leaders to deliver LEADS training programs.


Program Facilitators


Sandra Ramelli

Sandra Ramelli is the Integrated Vice President, People & Strategy,
St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph and St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre Brantford. She has held several senior roles in healthcare and has served as a trusted advisor and coach to many administrative and physician leaders. Sandra has extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership development, team performance, organizational design, culture transformation, staff, and physician engagement and in leading complex transformational change. Sandra believes that people are an organization’s most valued resource and that an organization’s talent is the key to unlocking an organization’s performance. Sandra is a certified LEADS® Coach and Facilitator and is certified in Kaplan-Norton Balanced Scorecard methodology, LEAN Green Belt, and the Integrated Approach to Leading ChangeTM. She holds a Master of Business Administration from York University Schulich School of Business.

Dr. Christine Ribic

Dr. Christine Ribic is a transplant nephrologist, an associate professor, and the Division Director of Nephrology at McMaster University. She is the Medical Director of Transplant and the HLA Laboratory Director for the St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Renal Transplant Program. She completed a Master of Science in Pharmacology at the University of Toronto in 2001 and a Master of Science in the Health Research Methodology Program at McMaster University. She is also the Chair of the Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) HLA Advisory Committee and the Ontario Health/TGLN Provincial Medical Lead for Kidney Transplantation. Dr. Ribic’s research interests are in renal transplantation and end stage renal disease with a focus on disease prevention and health outcomes.

Betty Mutwiri, PhD candidate

Betty Mutwiri is a seasoned executive coach, consultant, trainer, and international conference speaker with extensive expertise in leadership development, change leadership, emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). With a wealth of experience spanning two decades as a senior leader and organization effectiveness practitioner, Betty coaches leaders in health, education, and private industries both nationally and internationally. As a systems thinker and change agent, Betty employs a strength-based approach to foster positive transformation.

Graham Dickson, PhD

Dr. Graham Dickson is Professor Emeritus at Royal Roads University in Canada. He was a principal investigator in a cross-Canada research project on LEADS in a Caring Environment capabilities framework. LEADS is now endorsed by health authorities in ten provinces, and by most national health organizations, as well as abroad. He authored, in collaboration with Bill Tholl, Bringing Leadership to Life in Health: LEADS in a Caring Environment (2014) and Bringing Leadership to Life in Health: LEADS in a Caring Environment: Putting LEADS to Work (2020) and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on leadership. Graham works closely with the Canadian College of Health Leaders to enable countries outside of Canada to use LEADS for leadership development. He helped to develop the Master of Arts in Leadership (Health Specialization) for Royal Roads University and is the founding Director of the Centre for Health Leadership and Research.

Melinda Sinclair, PhD

Melinda Sinclair is an executive coach, curriculum designer, facilitator, and educator with more than thirty years’ experience working in knowledge-based and learning-oriented environments. She is co-founder of PeopleDynamics Learning Group Inc. Her current focus is on developing FutureWise™ leaders who can help address the challenges and opportunities of our post-pandemic future.

Formal leaders in the healthcare sector who are aiming to advance their leadership capabilities and expertise, focusing on the development of their skills, behaviors, and knowledge across all five domains of the LEADS framework.
