Health discrepancies exist amongst people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). When health challenges lead to hospitalization for people with IDD, clinical and/or ethical dilemmas may arise. This empowering presentation will equip health providers in hospital settings with clinically and ethically relevant information related to people with IDD in order to improve care.

Healthcare providers in clinical or hospital settings that want to learn more about ethics surrounding intellectual & developmental disabilities.

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Understand IDD and relevant clinical information that may influence care provision.
Identify ethical dilemmas that may occur when working with people with IDD.
Implement strategies that improve the therapeutic relationship and experiences for patients with IDD in a hospital setting.
