This one-day symposium is an educational and collaboration opportunity for sickle cell disease providers across Southwestern Ontario. Sessions will provide up-to-date, evidence-based materials about high-yield topics in the care of patients living with sickle cell disease, including primary care pearls, comprehensive management of acute complications, and patient mental health and wellbeing. There will be a unique emphasis on collaborative care and strengthening ties across the many communities that serve our patients.

*The program is not offered by Centre for Resilience, Learning & Growth – it is led by a community partner. However, we wanted to share information about the program as it may benefit the communities we work.

Who is this for?

Clinical staff interested in learning more about evidence-based care for sickle cell disease.

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Facilitate the development of networks and communities of practice for hemoglobinopathies across Ontario to enhance collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Disseminate best practices in sickle cell disease (SCD) care to improve healthcare provider knowledge and patient outcomes.
Enhance healthcare providers’ confidence and capacity by integrating medical expertise and lived experience while addressing stigma, racism, and bias in SCD care.
