PSWs (Personal Support Workers) play a vital role in the healthcare industry, working in private homes or healthcare facilities to help provide patient care and comfort. They make an enormous difference in the lives of patients and their families.
The PSW Living Classroom is a comprehensive 38-week program hosted at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph. It runs from September to June and offers students the opportunity to gain essential skills and certifications necessary for a rewarding career in healthcare.
The curriculum covers areas such as anatomy, physiology, mobility, safety, hygiene, abuse, household management, care planning, cognition, mental health, managing ongoing conditions, assisting with medications, palliative care, interpersonal skills, and career education. It also includes 330 clinical hours to provide hands-on experience
Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) is hosting information sessions for those interested in pursuing their PSW certification in the Living Classroom beginning in September 2025.
